The slightly coarser structure of Red Lauan will age beautifully, imparting an element of rustic charm to any setting. Lift the seat up to access a spacious storage area. With slatted wood walls all around, air is allowed to flow freely through the storage space so your cushions, or whatever you store, will never smell musty or damp.
Held together with weather-resistant galvanized steel bolts, this sturdy bench exhibits exceptional craftsmanship. The vertical slat back and contoured seat create a cozy place to sit, and slightly curved armrests add extra comfort to help you relax.
Once fully assembled, the bench weighs 86 lbs. and will comfortably seat two people. This outdoor bench offers incredible versatility and quality. You'll be impressed with its durable attributes and its natural, rustic style. Easy assembly takes about 20 minutes to complete.
About Shorea Wood and Linseed Oil
Shorea is possibly the best wood choice for outdoor furniture. Related to Burma teak, this hardwood grows naturally and plentifully in the Pacific Rim countries. Because shorea is dense, heavy, and hard, and contains an abundance of natural oils, it is highly resistant to rot, bug infestation, weather, and marring. Shorea (red lauan) wood will have variations is color - from a red to a yellow cast.
The Shorea wood for this item is treated with linseed oil. Linseed oil is not a varnish. The oil soaks into the pores of the wood leaving a shiny (not glossy) surface that shows off the grain of the wood. Linseed oil helps protects the wood from denting by compression and from accelerated deterioration.
After assembly simply wipe the bench with a damp cloth to remove any excess oil that may be remaining. Please note that it is recommended to let your bench sit outside for 2-3 days before sitting on it to let the stain air out and completely dry.

I love this bench! It looks beautiful on my porch. I have received so many compliments since we put it together. I put all of my kids pool things inside the bench. Their water surf boards (three of them), blow up floats (again, three of them), dive toys, goggles, blow up pump. I can even store the extension cord for the radio, extra salt for the pool and a bottle of tiki oil! I LOVE this bench! We recently re-sanded the pavers around the pool. First, we pressure washed the pavers. Talk about a mess! Sand and grim everywhere! By the time I seen the bench covered in all that grim I was sickened. The thought of having to scrub my practically brand new bench..... I tried to sweep off the loose sand and low and behold...it swept clean. I couldn't believe it! My husband took the blower to it as well. Couldn't tell it was covered in sand and grim 5 minutes ago. I LOVE this bench! We are thinking of getting another one for the front porch! It's beautiful, it's comfortable, it's PERFECT!!!! I Love It!

I ordered this bench because I wanted something attractive to keep outside (in the back garden) to keep gardening items in (hose nozzles, kneeling pad, garden clogs, etc). I chose this one because it was attractive-looking, AND it had lots of reviews which were very helpful.
My husband and I assembled it together, it took about 30 minutes, maybe a little longer (certainly not 20 like some people said). The screws and bolts all went in easily. I have oiled it with linseed oil, because one reviewer said to do that. It is sitting in the garage, drying, before I put it outside. It looks very nice, the wood is an attractive dark color. It seems sturdy.
It is quite heavy, and after the FedEx guy left it on the porch, it was a bit of a struggle for my husband and me to move it into the garage for assembly (we are in our 60s). Apart from that, no complaints!

The bench arrived very quickly and seems to be of great quality. It was very easy to put together and is much heavier than I expected it to be. As some others have said, the wood is not evenly stained, but I consider that to be a part of the character of the bench. I just put it together today, so I have not had time to judge its durability, but based on the quality of construction, I expect it to last a long time.
