Storage Bench with cushion
Oversized to suit a variety of needs, the Governess Storage Bench is a sturdy and dependable outdoor accessory. This cedar bench naturally repels most insects and is resistant to weather damage. The top of the Governess Storage Bench has a padded cushion that is available in a variety of colors. The cushion covering is made of a heavy, weather-resistant vinyl called Tonneau Tex, which is similar to the material that's used for the bed covers of pickup trucks, yet more flexible. Simple assembly is required.

About Cedar
Cedar wood is lightweight and resistant to both cracking and moisture rot. The oils of this resilient wood guard against insect attack and decay, and their distinctive aroma acts as a mild insect repellant. Cedar is a dependable choice for outdoor furniture, either as a finished or unfinished wood. Over time, unfinished cedar left outdoors will weather to a silvery gray patina. This natural process does not compromise the strength or integrity of the wood.

I have purchased 2 of these benches to use as storage and seating on my back porch. They are very attactive and easy to put together. I had them together in about 30 minutes with no help from the better half! I love the smell of cedar as I walk out my back door. I would recommend them highly.

This is a great idea, great materials - but the quality of construction is poor. The screws that were put in through the bottom of the bench pierced the cushion and it is visible from the outside - ruining the cushion. The screws holding the hinges in place completely too small - I had to replace them all with stainless steel screws. Company did not even respond to my complaints. Spent [$] for an outdoor bench and I wanted more - but with no response I'll never shop with this company again.

Do not get this bench! The wood was spliting. The top wood is put together with staples and it cracks the wood. After spending 30 min. putting this together we noticed the top part was only 17 7/8 inches wide so there was overhang on one side and short on the other. Returning this item and NOT getting another one. I don't think I will get anything else from this website. They should pay me for all my hassle with this!

i read the reviews and was hoping they were wrong, bought the bench anyway. assembly was not too bad but the wood already fractured and split in many places. Why??? to return it would be a pain and expensive in shipping so I put it together and am hoping for the best. It smells nice but as people said the wood is cheap and the bottom like a piece of cardboard almost! how is that going to hold up? i don't know. we didn't even bother putting on the hinge because there is no way to hold it and line it up without being crooked and i'm sure it will break with the weight of the lid and flimsly chains. I try to buy local and this seems to have been made in Illinois. Come on Illinois! We can do better can't we?

Product quality was a little shaky but with a few extra screws, some stain, and poly coat, the benches came out great! Extremely easy assembly even with the ambiguous directions.

Q1: Is the top attached with hinges?
A: Yes, it is attached with brass hinges.
Q2: What is the thickness of the wood?
A: The vertical slats are 11/16" x 4", and the frame is 1.5" x 1.5".
Q3: Is the lid counterbalanced? What's under the cushion? Can cushion be removed?
A: The lid is not counterbalanced. A storage area is under the cushion. The cushion is not removable.
